In a crowded field of 24 candidates, it takes a lot of work to stand out. And the desperation was on full display this weekend in Iowa, as 19 of the candidates for the Democratic nomination for president tried to make their mark.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg played the piano (apparently pretty badly according to Jon Batiste, the leader of Stephen Colbert's late-night band). Batiste attempted to console the guy who speaks seven languages and might be the smartest person on the campaign trail with "you can't do it all."

Jimmy Fallon tells us what happened to the oldest candidate in the race when he tried to get voters' attention. Find out where Bernie Sanders may have gone wrong in Best of Late Night, above.

And at least one candidate stood out by not even showing up. Joe Biden went to his granddaughter's graduation instead. But that's OK. He's still tight with a former president whose reputation may keep Biden in the lead. Or is he? A tweet makes Stephen Colbert skeptical. Judge for yourself. Watch today's webisode.
