Jimmy Buffett is making – and catching – waves, even in the face of Hurricane Florence's imminent landfall on the east coast.
The "Margaritaville" singer showed off the easygoing lifestyle he promotes when he posted a photo on Instagram of himself and a friend smiling alongside two surfboards on Wednesday.
"'I ain't afraid of dying. I got no need to explain. I feel like going surfing in a hurricane'
#follybeachsurfing," he wrote in the post.
The text on the photo itself said "that hurricane swell," referencing weather and wave patterns that create a brief window of optimal surfing conditions before a storm makes landfall.
Buffett also added a cautious reminder to his fans to heed warnings from authorities about the hurricane: "On a serious note – respect mother nature, please be safe and listen to your local authorities."
The photo's location was tagged Folly Beach, South Carolina, one of the states directly in the path of the hurricane, which is also threatening to slash North Carolina, Virginia and Maryland.
Hurricane Florence weakened to a Category 2 storm on Wednesday night, but the National Hurricane Center still predicted "life-threatening storm surge,” “catastrophic flash flooding and prolonged significant river flooding,” and “damaging hurricane-force winds.”
